5 stars for inspiration. I made one of these with my 11 yr. old grandson. We modified the work to suit his skill level, e.g. bevels on the edges were created with a block plane, and we drilled the thumb hole by taping the two pieces along the long edges with packing tape and using a drill press with a forstner bit.
I’m planning to make a few more, perhaps using a homemade 1/8″ “plywood” from some veneer that I have.

Jim, I’m glad you had fun doing this project with your grandson – it really does bring a smile to my face 🙂 Thanks for taking the time to write this review!
Joshua –
I made one myself out of 3mm walnut, it came out beautifully but It wouldn’t have without Tommy’s template and video to guide me! Thanks so much!
Sincerely, Joshua

I made this with Walnut and put rolled aluminum on the inside instead of the copper. I can’t wait to surprise my husband, I made it for our 5th Anniversary for this Friday. I no he will like the Walnut it was made with. Thank you for having this available for me to make it. I had fun doing it.
